This online marketplace has revised its size classifications for female and kids' apparel without notifying every member regarding the update. Social Media Response Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present a different size category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification. Vinted explained the new system was more in line with similar services. They have suggested members to examine their items and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction. Measurement Approach Modifications Before the change, the sizing featured one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10. The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10. For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18. Shopper Stories Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder". "Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does. Another user, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22. "Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she stated. Required Changes Charlotte Lunn, located in England, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item". "This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she stated. Marketplace Information The platform boasts over 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members. It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop. This isn't the first time that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: last year, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options following member complaints.
